The construction of the Laxiwa power station, the largest hydropower station in the Yellow River Basin, entered the sprint phase. At the construction site of the Laxiwa power station, it was learned that the core equipment water runner of the power station has been completed and is about to enter the installation and commissioning phase. It is expected that the first unit will generate electricity as soon as possible in the first quarter of next year.
The Laxiwa Power Station is responsible for the development and construction of the Yellow River upstream hydropower development company affiliated to China Power Investment Group (hereinafter referred to as “China Power Investmentâ€), one of the five largest power groups in China. Wang Qi, head of China Power Investment Engineering Department, told the Morning Post reporter that the Laxiwa power station has a total of 6 units, totaling 4,200 megawatts. “We will strive to generate electricity for the first unit in the first quarter of next year. All projects will be completed until 2011. It sent 10.2 billion kWh of electricity, all of which passed through the West-East Power Transmission Line to supply the Beijing-Tianjin-Tangshan region in North China."
Laxiwa Hydropower Station is located on the main stream of the Yellow River at the junction of Guide County and Guinan County in Qinghai Province. It will mainly undertake the peaking and accident reserve of the Northwest Power Grid. It is the backbone power point of the “West-to-East Power Transmission†North Passage and is also the realization of Northwest Hydropower. The overall baling was sent to the strategic project of North China Power Grid. The project was established in 2004 with a total investment of 14.78 billion yuan.
