On April 11th, the Pilot TWP FPD (Herscher Fire) received a call for a structure fire. Just moments before the alarm was triggered, a cigarette was carelessly discarded near an open propane canister, causing a sudden explosion that spread to a nearby home and fence. The response included multiple fire departments: Herscher Fire, Limestone TWP Fire, Salina TWP Fire, Essex FPD, and the Reddick Community FPD. Emergency crews worked quickly to contain the flames and prevent further damage.

The incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of improper disposal of smoking materials, especially around flammable substances. The fire caused significant damage to the property and led to a coordinated emergency response from several local fire departments.
