Brazil's polymer demand will increase 13% this year

With rapid economic growth, demand for polymers in Brazil is expected to increase by 13% this year. According to the forecast of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Brazil’s gross domestic product is expected to grow by 7.54% this year, making it the fastest growing economy in Latin America. Among them, polyethylene demand is slightly higher than polypropylene demand. The strong growth in polymer demand in Brazil means that more resin needs to be imported, with the main imported products coming from the Middle East. Only 2% of imported polyethylene in Brazil came from the Middle East in 2008, and this number will increase to 12% in 2010.
