House fire in Joliet, 7-19-23

From Chris Skrabel: I followed Engine Company 9 from Joliet to a large mansion-style house fire. The crew from Joliet performed exceptionally well, showing solid teamwork and maintaining a professional approach throughout the incident. According to patch.com: At 4:31 p.m., the Joliet Fire Department was called to 606 Rookery Lane for a structure fire. The first units arrived within three minutes of the initial call, finding heavy smoke and flames coming from a two-story single-family home. The building was unoccupied at the time and under construction, with all workers safely evacuated. Firefighters deployed multiple hose lines inside to tackle the fire on the second floor, while other crews handled water supply, search and rescue, ventilation, salvage, overhaul, safety, and support tasks. The fire was brought under control by 5:40 p.m. Units from stations 1, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 were all involved in the response. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported. Interestingly, this same address — 606 Rookery Lane — was declared a public nuisance by the Joliet City Council last September, raising questions about ongoing issues at the location.
