New engine coming to Homer Township

There are several upcoming changes to the Homer Township Fire Department’s apparatus fleet. Over the next few months, a number of units will be retired, while a new engine is currently being ordered to replace some of the aging equipment. One of the most notable additions is a stainless steel E-ONE Typhoon for Engine 32. This new unit is expected to arrive in July and will feature a 1,500-GPM pump along with a 1,000-gallon water tank, making it well-suited for both structural and wildland firefighting. Three vehicles are set to leave the department: - **Tanker 34**, a 1984 Spartan Gladiator/Pierce 1250/2500 pumper/tanker, has been taken out of service after years of reliable use. The unit was once a key part of the department’s water supply capabilities. - **Truck 32**, a 1995 Pierce Lance 105’ rear-mount aerial ladder truck, is also being retired. This ladder truck was a valuable asset for high-rise and specialty rescue operations. - **Engine R3**, a 2003 Pierce Saber top-mount pumper with a 1,250/750 GPM configuration, will also be replaced.
