Something from north of the border … Green Bay, WI

The Green Bay Metro Fire Department had a memorable day as they unveiled their brand-new, state-of-the-art fireboat. The department conducted a live demonstration, including placing a mannequin in the Fox River and testing the powerful fire pump that can spray up to 2,000 gallons of water per minute. This advanced vessel will play a crucial role in both rescue missions and firefighting efforts on local waterways. Fire Chief David Litton emphasized how important this new asset is for handling emergencies at sea. "There's always potential for incidents," he said. "Whether it's a boat stranded in the bay, someone capsizing their vessel — like we saw this summer — or a fire onboard or someone falling overboard, there are many situations where this boat will be invaluable." The total cost of the fireboat was $315,000, with $225,000 donated by the Green Bay Area Petroleum Companies and the remaining $90,000 coming from local taxpayers.
