This is a report from Wayne Gauger – WGWI-PUBLICATIONS:
The Green Bay Metro Fire Department had a thrilling day as they welcomed a brand-new, state-of-the-art fireboat. The department conducted a live demonstration by placing a mannequin into the Fox River and testing the powerful fire pump that can discharge up to 2,000 gallons of water per minute. This advanced vessel will play a crucial role in both rescue missions and firefighting efforts on the water. Fire Chief David Litton emphasized how this new tool will significantly enhance their response capabilities during water-related emergencies. He noted that such incidents are always a possibility—whether it's a stranded boat, a capsized vessel, or someone falling overboard, like what happened earlier this summer. Whether it’s a fire onboard or a person in distress, the potential for emergencies is real. The boat, which cost $315,000, was funded through a combination of private and public support. Specifically, $225,000 came from donations by the Green Bay Area Petroleum Companies, while the remaining $90,000 was covered by local taxpayers.Photo Credit: Wayne Gauger – WGWI-PUBLICATIONSMore Pictures
