World's largest urea production plant completed and put into operation in Pakistan

According to the “Business Report” of Pakistan on January 5, Pakistan’s Engro Fertilizer Co., Ltd. began production of a new fertilizer plant. With a total investment of US$1.1 billion, the fertilizer plant is the largest single urea plant in the world with an annual production capacity of 1.3 million tons. The plant will be completed and put into production will enable Engro's urea annual production capacity of 2.3 million tons, and to make the domestic urea market in Pakistan basically meet the balance between supply and demand, thereby significantly reducing imports and saving foreign exchange.
It is reported that the current demand for urea in Pakistan is about 6.2 million tons, and domestic production is about 5.2 million tons. The Pakistani government spends about 500 million U.S. dollars every year for urea imports.
