Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District (LRFPD) responded to a reported house fire this morning at 1975 Rose Terrace in Riverwoods. The call came from the homeowner, who reported flames coming from the garage. Upon arrival, the situation was escalated to a "Working Fire" as firefighters found the attached garage fully engulfed. The first engine unit arrived on scene and initiated a transitional attack using a 2.5-inch hose line.
Several additional fire departments were called to assist, including Long Grove FPD, Deerfield-Bannockburn FPD, Countryside FPD, and Wheeling. After about 30 minutes of operations, the alarm was upgraded to a MABAS Box Alarm due to the discovery of additional fire pockets inside the home. This prompted units from Lake Zurich, Mundelein, Gurnee, and Libertyville to respond.
The fire was eventually brought under control, and mutual aid companies were gradually released from the staging area. Local photographer Larry Shapiro captured several images after the Box Alarm was issued, showing the intensity of the incident.
