Box alarm fire in Riverwoods, 9-11-23

Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District (LRFPD) firefighters responded to a reported house fire this morning at 1975 Rose Terrace in Riverwoods. The call came from a homeowner who reported flames emerging from the garage, prompting the alarm to be upgraded to a "Working Fire." Upon arrival, the first engine unit found the attached garage fully engulfed and immediately initiated a transitional attack using a 2½-inch hose line. Several other fire departments joined the effort, including Long Grove FPD, Deerfield-Bannockburn FPD, Countryside FPD, and Wheeling. After about 30 minutes on scene, additional fire spread was discovered inside the home, leading to an upgrade to a MABAS Box Alarm. This brought in reinforcements from Lake Zurich, Mundelein, Gurnee, and Libertyville. Firefighters worked quickly to bring the blaze under control, and several mutual aid units were able to return to their stations after the fire was contained. Here are some photos taken by Larry Shapiro, who arrived after the Box Alarm was called in. These images capture the intensity of the fire and the efforts of the responding crews.
