Compound water retention agent added slow release fertilizer function

On December 22, the environmental friendly multi-functional composite water-retaining agent development project undertaken by the Lanzhou Institute of Chemicals of the Chinese Academy of Sciences passed the appraisal. The project uses Gansu's abundant attapulgite clay to develop the organic-inorganic composite water-retaining agent. The developed multi-functional composite water-retaining agent achieves water retention while reducing the content of petroleum monomer and is endowed with the function of slow-release fertilizer. .

Previously, the compound water-retaining agent developed by Lanzhou Institute of Chemicals had been industrialized in Shandong Shengli Oilfield in 2004, and the upgrading of agricultural water-retaining agents was realized. In order to not only maintain the advantages of the agricultural composite water-retaining agent, but also give the crop slow release of nutrients and improve the utilization of fertilizers, Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Industry has also successfully developed an organic-inorganic composite water-retaining agent containing active ingredients. When the non-petroleum monomer content reached 50%, the water retention capacity of the water retaining agent to pure water and physiological saline was 398 g/g and 52 g/g, respectively. The scale-up test shows that the preparation method of the water retaining agent is stable and has good repeatability, which lays a foundation for industrial production.

The organic-inorganic composite water-retaining agent has the effect of improving the soil aggregate structure better than the existing domestic water-retaining agent under the premise of the same amount of added water, and is expected to become a new type of water-retaining agent that retains water and improves the soil. The new water retention agent preparation method has applied for national invention patents.
