This is from Steve Redick:
On Sunday, I covered a still and box alarm at Cortland and Kingsbury, an industrial area where a fire broke out in a large scrap metal operation. A massive pile of junk cars was fully involved. Since the location is right on the river, Engine 2, the city's large fireboat, was dispatched to the scene. They eventually connected a 4-inch line to Engine 55, which then used a multi-sectional ladder. There was some discussion about using the big water cannons, and the "crows nest" turret on the back of the boat was raised, but there wasn’t a clear shot at the burning pile from the river. Access to the area was very limited, and I was shooting directly into a bright, low sun—truly challenging conditions. Despite that, I managed to capture some interesting shots of the fireboat in action, as well as what appeared to be an air monitoring unit deployed by the hazmat team.
