This report comes from Drew Gresik:
On May 15, 2016, around 11:30 PM, the Englewood Fire Alarm Office of the Chicago Fire Department received multiple calls about a fire at 57th and Peoria. The response began as a working fire with Engine 50 arriving first on scene. They reported a two-story, vacant building measuring 25x50 feet with heavy fire on the second floor and in the rear. Squad 5 then contacted Battalion 6, who was still en route, and informed them that the fire had spread to Side D, which was a similar structure. As the situation escalated, Battalion 6 requested a Still & Box, and crews transitioned to a defensive operation.
Four lines were deployed for an exterior attack. Truck 51 was repositioned from Side A to use Tower 39 and provide an aerial master stream from the front. The incident involved numerous units including Engine 50, Engine 84, Engine 116, Engine 54, Truck 51, Truck 18, Tower 39, Battalion 6, Squad 5, Rescue 2-7-4, RIT, Battalion 19, Truck 20, Battalion 5, Battalion 15, Alarm 2-2-1, Assistant 1, Assistant 49, Engine 4-5-5, and Engine 4-5-8.
