Still & Box Alarm in Chicago, 2-11-17 (part 1)

Below are some photos from a still and box alarm that took place in Chicago on Saturday morning, February 11th. The 15th Battalion was the first to arrive and reported light smoke coming from a 600 x 200 foot, four-story fire-resistive warehouse. Just seven minutes later, they called for the box, reporting heavy smoke inside. It turned out to be an auto fire. The Mobile Ventilation Unit (MVU) was brought in to clear the smoke and assist with ventilation.

The photos give a good sense of the response and the conditions at the scene. The firefighters worked quickly and efficiently, and it’s always interesting to see how different units respond to various types of calls. These images capture the effort and dedication of the Chicago Fire Department.
