These ballast waters contain various microorganisms and fish eggs. And biological larvae, some harmful organisms will take the opportunity to spread the disease after entering a new environment, posing a threat to the ocean, especially offshore life.
To help solve this problem, the European Aviation Administration is using the environmental monitoring satellite to observe the changes in seawater color, transparency and sea surface temperature caused by the ship’s ballast water discharge at the seaport, in accordance with the regulations of the International Maritime Organization for monitoring ballast water. Professionals analyze and identify the ballast water hazard index.
The European Air Navigation Bureau also hopes that when the conditions are ripe, the monitoring website will be set up by the authoritative organization, and the marine ballast water hazard index and other seawater quality information will be released from time to time to provide scientific data for preventing and reducing alien biological hazards and protecting the marine environment.
