In partnership with Avocados from Peru, the Jets unveiled a world-record-breaking 9,000-pound guacamole bowl during the game. The event wasn’t just about football—it was a celebration of flavor, innovation, and collaboration. And that’s where we came in. As experts in surface finishing, we were tasked with preparing the massive stainless steel bowl for its grand debut using our advanced blasting techniques.
The bowl, built by Airside Inc., was a 9-foot by 5-foot structure designed to hold an impressive amount of guacamole for thousands of fans. But before it could be filled, it needed a professional finish. That’s where blasting came into play. Using a combination of Starblast™ abrasive and glass bead blasting, we ensured the bowl was not only visually appealing but also durable enough to handle the heavy-duty demands of the event.
Blasting is more than just a process—it's a way to transform surfaces, enhance aesthetics, and improve functionality. For this project, we used two key methods:
- **Starblast™ Abrasives**: Made from tiny Staurolite sand grains, these abrasives are ideal for cleaning, rust removal, and surface preparation. They’re reusable, produce minimal dust, and contain very little silica, making them safe for a wide range of industrial applications.
- **Glass Beads**: These are perfect for achieving a smooth, soft finish on stainless steel. We use Ballotini® Impact Beads to remove blemishes and contaminants while maintaining the integrity of the surface.
