This is from Larry Shapiro:
A neighbor contacted the Northbrook Fire Department on October 4th, 2016, just before 2:00 PM, reporting smoke coming from a home at 1801 Oak Avenue. When the first Northbrook unit arrived, smoke was already visible, and the alarm was upgraded to a Code 4 due to the active fire. Firefighters made a strong initial response to what appeared to be a basement fire that had burned through part of the floor above.
Several units were on scene, including Northfield Truck 29, Glenview Truck 14, Wheeling Engine 23, and Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Ambulance 52. Northbrook’s own resources included Engines 10 and 11, Truck 12, Ambulances 10 and 11, Battalion 11, and all three chief officers. The coordinated effort helped contain the fire and prevent it from spreading further.
