- When setting up a B2C shipment with DHL, provide the **recipient's mobile phone number and email address** in Turkey. This allows DHL to contact them if needed for customs clearance.
- If the sender prefers not to allow DHL to contact the recipient (such as in cases of DTP billing), an **alternative contact email** should be provided.
- **Inform your customers** about potential customs clearance fees. Shipments cannot be delivered until all duties and taxes are paid.
For **recipients in Turkey**, it’s equally important to act quickly:
- You will receive a **notification from DHL** and must choose **DHL as your customs broker** or provide an alternative one for clearance. DHL will send a notification for each shipment, as customs broker information is not stored in the customer’s master file.

- Customs clearance can only proceed once you authorize DHL to handle the shipment or provide an alternative customs broker.
- If no authorization is given or no alternative broker is provided within **20 days of arrival**, the package may be held by Turkish Customs and eventually returned to the sender.
