Magna, the fourth-largest auto parts supplier globally, is making a strong push into the Chinese market this year. The company has announced plans to establish 19 component-related auxiliary factories across China by the end of the year, aiming to better support local automakers and strengthen its supply chain presence in the region.
According to recent reports, Magna operates as a major global supplier of automotive systems, assemblies, modules, and accessories. With 224 manufacturing subsidiaries and 60 product development and engineering centers spread across 22 countries, the company has built a robust international footprint. Now, it's looking to expand further into one of the world’s most competitive and growing automotive markets.
During an interview, Yu Hongbo, a spokesperson for Magna, revealed that the company has already started setting up supporting companies in China. One example is an interior plant located in Changshu, Jiangsu, which is a joint venture between Magna and private enterprises in the region. In addition to this, Magna plans to build more production bases in China through both wholly-owned and joint-venture models.
By the end of the year, the total number of plants to be constructed will reach 19, signaling a significant long-term commitment to the Chinese market. These facilities are expected to enhance Magna’s ability to provide localized support and meet the increasing demand from domestic automakers.
Furthermore, according to Yu Bo, Magna is currently collaborating with several leading domestic car manufacturers. Partnerships include well-known names such as Shanghai GM and Beijing Benz, highlighting the company’s strategic approach to integrating into the Chinese automotive ecosystem.
This expansion reflects Magna’s confidence in the future of the Chinese auto industry and its determination to become a key player in the region. With a focus on innovation, quality, and local collaboration, the company is positioning itself to play a vital role in China’s evolving automotive landscape.
