According to recent data, special fertilizers currently make up around 10% of fertilizer use in rural areas, and there's a growing trend toward increased usage. As per the technical guidelines for chemical fertilizer application, special fertilizers are considered the key direction for future agricultural practices. However, some farmers still have poor habits when it comes to purchasing and using fertilizers. It is important to remind them to be more aware and informed about proper fertilizer use.
First, many farmers do not use specialized fertilizers properly. These fertilizers are developed based on the specific needs of different crops, combining various single nutrients to meet their growth requirements. Unfortunately, many farmers tend to buy multiple types of chemical fertilizers without considering the crop type and mix them together, even when using special fertilizers. This approach is not scientifically sound. High-quality special fertilizers can lose their effectiveness if the nutrient ratios are disrupted, while lower-quality ones may appear better due to added nutrients, masking their true quality.
Second, some farmers only look at the packaging when buying fertilizers. While good packaging can indicate product quality, it is not the main factor. Some manufacturers manipulate labels to create a false impression of high nutrient content. For example, they might label each component separately, making it seem like the fertilizer has higher concentrations than it actually does. With improved packaging designs, many farmers, especially those with limited education, can be easily misled. Therefore, it's crucial for farmers to focus on real results rather than just the appearance of the bag.
Third, some farmers are drawn to low prices. In today’s competitive market, some producers cut costs by offering low-quality, low-priced fertilizers. For instance, a bag might claim to contain 25% of a certain nutrient, but in reality, it contains less than 10%, using cheaper raw materials. Such products often fail to deliver the same performance as genuine fertilizers, making them more expensive in the long run. Farmers should calculate the cost-benefit ratio. Even if a fertilizer appears pricier, it might lead to greater yield increases, resulting in better overall value.
