The development of ± 1100kV converter valve plays a crucial role in the construction of ± 1100kV UHV DC project.
The "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" 863 project "advanced technology of ± 1100kV DC converter valve developed" project formed independent intellectual property rights of ± 1100kV and above voltage level UHV valve key technology theory, integrated index optimization process Design system and test system, completed the test capability construction of ± 1100kV UHV converter valve, and finally completed the research and development of ± 1100kV UHV converter valve with independent intellectual property rights, which is the first in China and the leading in the world. This project is undertaken by the Global Energy Internet Research Institute, jointly with North China Electric Power University and Zhongzhu Zhuzhou Times Electric Co., Ltd., and has recently passed the acceptance test.

The completion of the project has contributed to the smooth implementation of the world's first ± 1100kV UHVDC transmission project (Changji-Guquan).
