Here's a report from Eric Haak:
There was a fire early Sunday morning (April 12) in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood. Around 1:43 AM, the Main Fire Alarm Office received a Still & Box Alarm for a report of people trapped inside a burning building at 22nd and Wolcott Avenue. First-arriving units reached the scene within one minute of the alarm being issued and immediately reported that the fire was already visible through the roof. By 1:45 AM, the 4th Battalion Chief requested an EMS Plan I and confirmed that the fire had spread to all three floors. At 1:51 AM, Engine 2-2-1 took control of the fire and shortly after ordered a 2-11 Alarm. Just before 2:00 AM, crews were pulled out of the building as a defensive operation was initiated. Throughout the incident, three master streams were in use along with several hand lines. Tower Ladder 5 and Engine 23’s deck gun were deployed in Sector A, while Squad 1A was stationed on Wolcott in Sector D.By around 3:00 AM, the fire had moved into the cockloft on the B side of the adjacent building (see image 5). Tower Ladder 39 was brought in as a fourth master stream. Engines 23, 18, and 39 were all pumping water at the scene. Fortunately, all 21 residents of the building managed to escape without injury. I apologize if any details in this account are slightly off, but I believe this is a fairly accurate summary of what occurred during the fire.
