The reporter learned from the Erdos City Government in Inner Mongolia that a 20,000 tons/year DME (Dimethyl Ether) production plant operated by Inner Mongolia Yigao Chemical Co., Ltd. has successfully completed trial operations at the Wushenzhao Industrial Park in Ordos City. This marks the first operational DME production line in the region and represents a significant breakthrough in the local production of dimethyl ether.
According to the report, the technology used in the facility is an independently developed production system, refined through the optimization of both domestic and international dimethyl ether technologies. Following over ten days of stable trial runs, the plant produced high-quality DME with low energy consumption and consistent performance.
It is known that the Iraqi High Company serves as the parent company of the Inner Mongolia Yihua Group. In 2004, the group invested over 25 million yuan alongside Japan's Gaohua Co., Ltd. to develop downstream methanol products. In August 2004, they began testing the production of dimethyl ether. Currently, the annual capacity of DME production reaches 20,000 tons, making Yihua Group the first company in Inner Mongolia to independently develop DME technology.
The successful operation of this plant lays a solid foundation for the larger 3 million tons/year coal-based DME project being developed by Yihua Group at the Mengda New Energy Development Base in Wushenqi, Inner Mongolia. The project is currently preparing for construction. Additionally, the 30,000 tons/year DME production facility at the Yihua Group’s Alkali Lake test station provided essential technical support during the development phase.
